About Janelle & Japatina Kennels: We are a small Kennel in Tasmania who focus on showing and breeding Australian Silky Terriers. Since 2013 we have bred 10 Australian Champions, 2 Grand Champions and 1 Supreme Champion. Between our dogs they have multiple Best in Show, Runner Up Best in Show, Class in Show, Class in Group and Best of Breed awards. Here are some of our highlights.
Our first litter in 2013 produced Supreme Ch Japatina Dream Big Or Go Home "Thomas". Thomas won a Best in Show at The Murray Valley Kennel Club in 2016. He has multiple Best in Groups and Runner Up Best in Group awards. As well as multiple classes in group and in show awards. Thomas was awarded Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Group at the Hobart Royal Show in 2013 under Andrew Brace (UK). Thomas was also awarded Dog Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed at the 2014 Melbourne Royal Show.
Grand Ch Japatina The Devil Wears Prada "Prada" - Thomas' daughter - is one of the dogs we are currently campaigning. To date she has won 2 Runner up Best in Show awards - All Breeds Dog Club of SA 2016 & All Breeds Kennel Association Inc 2021 (TAS). She has multiple Best in Group awards and Runner up in Group awards to her name. As well as multiple classes in group and in show awards. Prada was awarded Best of Breed at Adelaide Royal Show in 2017 & 2018.
Grand Ch Japatina Wearing My Rolex “Rolex” was being shown in South Australia until 2021 and will be campaigned here in Tasmania for 2023. He has won Best in Group and multiple Runner up Best in Group awards. He has won multiple classes in group and classes in show awards.
Grand Ch C.I.B. Karlyermai Aint Wizilin Dixi “Robbie” was the number 1 Australian Silky Terrier in the Breed Challenge Competition in 2019 (Dogzonline). He was the first International CIB champion Australian Silky Terrier with his title granted in Australia. To date Robbie has been awarded an All Breeds Best in Show – Bundaberg Canine Club 2019 - and 2 group Specialty Best in Shows – WA Toy Dog Specialist Club INC 2019 & CKCS Club of Tasmania Inc Companion Dog Show 2022. He has multiple Best in Groups and Runner Up Best in Group awards to his name. As well as multiple classes in group and in show awards. Robbie was Best Puppy in Group at the 2017 Perth Royal Dog Show. He was awarded Best of Breed at the 2019 Perth Royal Show.
Not only is the Australian silky terrier a beautiful dog, but they are also an all-rounder. One of our retired show dogs has gone on to become a mindDog for a young lady in Victoria. Xena is an assistant dog who provides constant support to her young owner.
